We're back in the St Louis area, we found a real nice little campground just SW from town in the city of Fenton, it's the Covered Bridge RV Park and has about 30 paved, level sites with full hookups plus 50amp, we'll be here for a week. The traffic is pretty heavy around this area but there is every type of restaurant and shopping that you can think of.
Today we started out going over to the World Bird Sanctuary (www.worldbirdsanctuary.org ), it's located in Lone Elk Park. Injured birds are brought here and treated in their hospital if they can they will release them back to the wild if the injury is to bad then they have a new home here and are used for educational purposes. They have a very nice Raptor area were you can really get up close and personal with the birds, then a trail that takes you to the outdoor exhibits were you'll see Eagles, Hawks, Falcons, Owls, Pelicans, Parrots and more.
I found a 2fer coupon for Dicky's house of BBQ, making people happy since 1941, so that's where we stopped for lunch. As soon as we walked through the door we could smell the smoked BBQ and knew it was going to be good, Cathy got the Pork and Turkey and I had the Ribs and Brisket, all of them were great.
Since we both ate to much we figured we better walk it off so we drove over to Laumeier Sculpture Park (www.laumeier.org ) , this is a 105 acre park that has a museum, indoor gallery and 72 , count em 72 outdoor sculptures. About a third of the park is landscaped and has a lot of the sculptures displayed, the rest is wood area with miles of trails that have sculptures all along them. We walked around for about two hours getting lost on the trails find our way out again then getting lost again and I don't think that we managed to see half of the sculptures. It would take two or three trips here to see them all. They did have something we've never seen before, a section for the blind, the artist's had made miniatures of their work with a description of the piece on a bronze tablet in Braile so the blind can feel the miniature to picture what it looks like.
A quick stop at the Post Office to get our mail at General Delivery and then back to camp to get ready for tomorrow.
I should point out that both parks and everything at them is free.
