Naturally, we THOUGHT the fatter would be better, as it appeared to be stronger. In reality, it seems to catch on the edge of the little holes more readily, and wear out more quickly. The shades we restrung with the thinner cords lasted longer before breaking.<br /><br />We finally had to resort to wearing vinyl gloves when working on the shades - we kept cutting our fingers on the metal edges and getting little smears of blood on the shades. argh!<br /><br />The problem is now solved for the next 4-5 years, since we got all new shades.
